Kale

Lyla and Rowan's daycare had a party tonight to celebrate the building getting remodeled.  Very exclusive, with lots of celebrity sightings.

Julie couldn't go because she had tickets to see Michael Pollan speak.  He's the guy who writes all those food books about how everything I like to eat is bad and how everything I don't like to eat is good.  Every time Julie reads one of his books or sees him in a documentary, we don't eat meat for like six months.  I'm super happy she's seeing him live because knowing her, she'll find her way on stage somehow and get a free 10 pound bucket of kale, God help us.

So that left me as the official party escort for Lyla and Rowan.  Here's Lyla waiting patiently for Rowan to finish his pizza.

Five minutes later:

The kid was taking forever, so finally I just gave Lyla my phone.

An eternity later he finished, so we went to the math station, where Lyla decided to count the abacus beads.  Paaaarty!  Now it was Rowan's turn to wait.  Nine:

Fifty-two:

At the science station they played with magnet wands.

"Daddy, we can reverse the polarity of this magnet by turning it around," she did not say.  "Then it will repel those little metal things instead of attracting them," she also did not say.

Did I mention that Julie allowed Lyla to pick out her own outfit this morning?

She looked like a four-year-old cockney girl selling flowers.  "Lyla, where does the rain in Spain fall?"

"Minely on the pline, Deddy."

Anyway, dinner tomorrow: kale burgers.  Just wait.
